“When I think about my path, I have the feeling that I` have drawn a straight line, that through each of my pieces I have lined a way that I had to realize, as if there had not been deflection. When we deviate, we know it, we feel it, and to this the artist must oppose all his forces. The line between two points is necessarily tight, without respite. Each piece has been an exhortation to greater freedom. That is as I have sought throughout all these years to achieve only one thing, an unique gesture that covered by itself the questioning of a lifetime. By repeating the same gesture, this is on oneself that we work. What defines ultimately a piece, it seems to me to be the tension that passes through ; what I have done so far therefore resembles, maybe, to the image of the stroke, of the straight line without hollow or detour.”
