Hors-champ – créations in-situ
With the Hors-Champ project, new choreographic performance systems are explored. Getting out of the black box where free or choreographed forms are proposed in unusual performance spaces: museums, galleries, public spaces, heritage sites… These hybrid and singular creations are unique pieces, imagined in-situ, adapting to specific sound, light and architectural contexts.
It is about bringing the body into other spaces of reflection and practice. Institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in Algiers, the gardens of the Château de Versailles, the Musée des Confluences in Lyon, and the Pantheon in Paris have hosted these performances.
Whether one is in line in the procession, or in a circle, which obviously evokes the home, a group is formed sharing the same space, the same attention and the same movement. A commonality of space, experience and action is thus outlined, which is called a community. Certainly embryonic and very fragile: everyone is faced with the choice of participating or not, or of watching, of letting go or of taking up this place in the group at any time. This collective belonging, this being in common, the fantasy of the unity of many, is here both a means and the very form of the intervention. The procession as a collective movement participates in it and draws a horizon, if not a utopia a minima, the event being the presence to oneself at the same time as the sharing with others, what is played out in this elective and momentary community gathered in the same action. In fact, according to her, this relates to “the question of the collective and its relationship to unity. This question of unity is central to my work. The connected segments generate a unitary whole whose parts remain autonomous, as does the relationship of the individual to the group.”
